Bernborough has been home to a Droughtmaster operation run by the Birchmore Family since 1985. Registration of the stud followed in 1993 and in 2009, the commercial herd was officially recognized by the Droughtmaster Society as an Accredited Commercial Droughtmaster Herd.
The Bernborough operation is spread across 4 properties in North West Queensland – Bernborough, Kiriwina & Walkers Park with agistment on Narollah. The Bernborough / Kiriwina aggregation is located 115 km north of Winton on the black soil downs, while the northern breeding property, Walkers Park is 70 km north of Richmond, with a mixture of country from pebbly downs through to forest.
Bernborough Droughtmasters topped the 2010 Diamantina Droughtmaster Sale with Lot 77, Bernborough Herd Bull #7 sold to R&J Underwood for $11500
Bernborough Droughtmasters sold 15 bulls, for an average of $3800.

Bernborough Droughtmasters were one of 26 who took part in the Flinders Beef Challenge. Bernborough took out 2nd place out of 130 animals in the MSA Carcase Score.

Bernborough once again topped the commercial female section of the Diamantina Droughtmaster Sale for the 2nd year running with a pen of 18 cows & calves for $1310 per unit to Charlie & Jane Underwood, Aireworth Station, Hughenden.
